Andy Lee

Andy Lee was born in Liverpool England, his passion for the hospitality industry began at the age of 13 whilst studying home economics at school upon leaving he enrolled at Colquitt Street Culinary School in Liverpool, where he graduated with City & Guilds London with credits in Hospitality Management and as a Chef.

Upon completion Andy progressed to the other side of the hotplate as an assistant server and quickly worked his way up the ranks to Restaurant Manager. Andy spent the next fifteen years of his career in senior roles at a number of luxury 5 Star boutique properties and several Michelin Star restaurant locations throughout England. Including holding the position of General Manager of Paul Heathcotes Two Michelin Starred Restaurant which under his direction was awarded, the 1996 Gold Award Courvoisier Top Ten Best Restaurants in the World and the in 1998 Voted one of the Top Ten Gourmet Restaurants in the United Kingdom – The Independent.

Upon arrival in Canada Andy has held senior leadership roles with some of Canada’s finest and most prestigious properties. These include Langdon Hall Relais & Chateau Country House Inn Hotel and Spa in Cambridge, Ontario, Queens landing Inn and Conference Centre, NOTL, Ontario, The Fairmont Royal York Hotel Toronto.

Andy also served as General Manager of Fox Harb’r, an internationally recognized luxury 5 star Golf and Spa Resort in Nova Scotia, where he led the property to the CAA 4 Diamond award and oversaw a $1.5 million room renovation. Shortly afterwards the property became a member of Johannesen’s leading Resorts of North America rated in the top 15 North American Resorts.

Andy recently worked as Managing Director of Hospitality at international award winning Mission Hill Family Estate Winery in West Kelowna, here Andy was responsible for the overall success of the ‘visitor experience’, including the Terrace Restaurant which was awarded one of the top five winery restaurants in the world by Travel & Leisure Magazine. Other responsibilities included all culinary programs, winery tours, a large retail wine store and all of the unique cultural initiatives including international art exhibitions and programming for the outdoor Amphitheater Venue. During this time, Andy oversaw the overall P&L responsibility for the hospitality portion of the winery as well as direct oversight of the sales and marketing functions, catering, food and beverage, grounds and guest services departments including five private residences. As the lead ambassador for the winery, Andy was an active member of the local community to build upon the wineries’ strong ties to the district of West Kelowna. Recently awarded Winery of the Year 2013, International Wine & Spirit Competition – Canadian Wine Producer of the Year in 2011 the winery attracts 120,000 visitors each year.

Andy has been the General Manager of the Toronto Ski Club since June 2013. Andy is an Advanced Certified Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers, as well as being a Certified Specialist of Wine with the American Society of Wine Educators and also holds the Wine Spirit Educational Trust Higher Certificate.

Andy is a graduate of the Cornell General Managers Program, he passed his Inter Provincial Culinary Red Seal in 2010 and in 2009 he was accredited with MPI’s Global Certification in Meeting Management which was recertified in 2014.

Recently Andy passed the Certified Hotel Administrator Program (CHA) which is the most prestigious certification available to hotel general managers and hospitality executives. It identifies the recipient as being part of an elite group of hospitality professionals whom have achieved a high level of expertise. Currently Andy is enrolled in an MBA program with Glion University which upon completion Andy will graduate with an MBA in international hospitality & service industries management and administration.

In 2010 he and his wife Annette opened Bacchus House a luxury nationally accredited 5 Star Boutique Bed and Breakfast in Collingwood, Ontario.
